Brief Biography

Harold Weiss, Ph.D., MPH – Faculty with the Center for Injury Research and Control, University of Pittsburgh. Dr Weiss has over 26 years experience in injury control, founding and directing the program in Wisconsin (1983), and since 1992 has been in academia. His research has covered injury surveillance, violence, baby walkers, poisonings, bicycles, transportation safety, farm injuries, hospital discharge data, data linkage, elderly falls, and recreational injuries, among other areas. Currently, he focuses on injuries to females, pregnant women, and fetal outcomes due to trauma. Dr. Weiss authors several websites and was chair of the APHA Injury Control and Emergency Health Services section in 1990 and president of SAVIR.
